BREWED AWAKENING
Family friendly gastro-pub taps into far northwest San Antonio

Tables and Taps' beer-friendly menu offers snacks like loaded totchos and pickle pizza.
A new San Antonio beer bar is barreling into 19338 Babcock Rd. #101. Tables and Taps is bringing a massive drink menu and classic pub grub to its grand opening on May 3.
The concept quietly replaces Beerhead Bar and Eatery, an Illinois-based pub chain that opened locally in early 2024. It's unclear when the latter shuttered; its last Yelp reviews were written in mid-January. Tables and Taps neighbors upstart wine bar Vino Grotta, which opened in late December 2024.
The new veteran-owned sports bar still offers beer fans plenty of choices, but with a family friendly atmosphere and a pet-friendly patio. Tables and Taps boasts mead, wine, hard cider, and 46 beers on tap. Texas is well represented with Ranger Creek, Real Ale, 903 Brewers, Lakewood, Spoetzl Brewery, Pinthouse, Saint Arnold, and Karbach.
The accessible food menu pairs well with the sudsy sips. Appetizers include a Bavarian pretzel, barbecue bourbon meatballs, garlic Parmesan fries, and Totcho Supreme, tater tots loaded with queso, shredded cheddar cheese, pork, pico de gallo, romaine lettuce, red onions, jalapeños, and a drizzle of sour cream.

Tables and Tops also serves sports bar standards like wings, chicken tenders, salads, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. The 15 pizzas include Pickle Pie topped with olive oil, shredded mozzarella, bacon, pickle slices, jalapeños, ranch, and dill.
Once in full swing, Tables and Taps will be open Monday through Thursday, noon-10 pm; Friday, noon-midnight; Saturday, 11 am-midnight; and Sunday 11 am-10 pm. The programming schedule will be packed with weekend brunch service, frequent live music, and weekly trivia nights on Tuesdays.
The May 3 grand opening will amp things up with a DJ and laser lights. Keeping with the "T & T spirit," guests are encouraged to wear unique ties and tiaras.
