OPENING ALERT
Comfort Cafe owners debut sweet new San Antonio coffee shop and bakery

Sweet Serenity's bakery case is overflowing with goodies.
After abruptly shuttering their Los Patios restaurant in June, the team behind San Antonio’s Comfort Cafe is beginning a fresh chapter. Sweet Serenity, a bakery and coffeehouse with a wellness twist, opened July 10 at 6812 Bandera Rd #119.
Owners Teri and Rosalina Lopez teased the concept when they announced the Los Patios closure, calling Sweet Serenity a “cozy coffee, crepe, and gift shop.” With the original Comfort Cafe next door to the new shop, the team now has a central hub of operations.
“We’ll be bringing even more heart, intention, and connection to our Bandera Road location, where our team will be reunited under one roof to serve you with even more love than ever before,” wrote the owners in June.
Following the lead of Comfort Cafe, Sweet Serenity has a pay-what-you-can model. Both eateries support the Lopez’s addiction recovery nonprofit SerenityStar, which combines traditional 12-step programs with alternative healing methods.
The latter surely inspired one feature that sets the coffeehouse apart from a Starbucks. In addition to serving espresso drinks and flavored teas, Sweet Serenity also functions as a boutique, selling crystals and other goods.
Guests can peruse the rocks while nibbling on various sweet treats. The crepes come in more than half a dozen flavors, from honey cinnamon to strawberry. The spot also has a bakery case stocked with cannolis, croissants, scones, and something called “Self Love Cakes.”
Like its cafe sibling, Sweet Serenity is only open during the day on weekends. Hours are Thursday through Sunday, 8 am-4 pm.
