Albi's Vite owner brightens Boerne with new all-day brunch restaurant

Sunny's will bring brunch favorite to Boerne in mid-June.
A new all-day brunch restaurant, Sunny’s, will soon be brightening up Boerne’s dining scene. Albion Zogaj, the owner of San Antonio’s Albi’s Vite Italian Kitchen, says the restaurant will serve its first customers at 518 River Rd. on June 16.
Alan Williams of the influential San Antonio Restaurants Facebook group first broke the news of the opening date and menu reveal. Zogaj confirmed the details via text, explaining the concept was the result of customer feedback.
“We will still have our Italian restaurants, but I live in Boerne, and people always tell me they look for brunch, so I wanted to build what the community asked for,” says Zogaj.
Although there are many similar restaurants in San Antonio city limits, including national chains like First Watch and Snooze, the Hill Country town is less blessed with options. Besides, Sunny’s offerings go far beyond the pancakes and Benedicts offered at like-minded restaurants.
Several dishes have a Tex-Mex influence, like birria chilaquiles with avocado and a lemon herb sauce. Sunny’s will also offer build-your-own bowls with veggies, proteins, and sauces ranging from a zippy citrus glaze to spicy sriracha. Flapjacks are on the menu, but customers may want to opt for one of the eight sweet and savory crepes.
Sunny’s also isn’t neglecting nighttime crowds, staying open between 8 am-9 pm daily. A curated dinner menu features mains like burgers, seared salmon with a corn salad, and Mykonos Meets Mexico, a pita filled with birria, tzatziki, and goat cheese.
Sunny’s replaces a longtime Boerne favorite, Rivulet. In late March, the restaurant surprised locals by announcing its closure. The spot has since revealed plans to relocate to Comfort.
