OPENING ALERT
Boerne brunch fave debuts sunny San Antonio café at the Rim

Sunny's opened its second location on June 15.
A popular Boerne all-day brunch restaurant is now beaming down to the Rim. Sunny’s, from the owner of San Antonio’s Albi’s Vite Italian Kitchen, debuted its second restaurant at 17623 La Cantera Pkwy on Monday, June 15.
“The lights are on, the team is ready, and the countdown is almost over,” wrote Sunny’s in a June 14 Instagram post. “Tomorrow we officially open our doors at The Rim, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome you!”
In January, the restaurant first teased its debut in a series of clever Instagram videos featuring iconic San Antonio sites like the Alamo, La Antorcha de la Amistad, Pearl, and the North Star Mall boots. At the time, it only teased the exact suite, but later revealed it was moving into the former home of Mash’d.
Sunny’s debuted at Boerne’s 518 River Rd. on June 16, 2025. The concept is similar to national chains like First Watch and Snooze, but the offerings go far beyond the pancakes and Benedicts offered at similar restaurants.
Several dishes have a Tex-Mex influence, like birria Benedicts with hollandaise and pico de gallo. Sunny’s also offers bowls with veggies, proteins, and sauces ranging from a zippy citrus glaze to spicy sriracha. Flapjacks are on the menu, but customers may want to opt for one of the signature sweet and savory crepes.
Sunny’s also doesn’t neglect lunch appetites. The small entree menu features mains like burgers, seared salmon with a corn salad, and various sandwiches. Kids can choose from plates like a short stack, chicken fingers, and a brioche grilled cheese.
The new location is likely to be as popular for its carefully honed aesthetic as its fare. The restaurant is filled with TikTok-friendly decor like a vintage Volkswagen Beetle decorated with sunflowers and faux lemons, a tropical ceiling mural, and fringed cabana umbrellas on the patio.
Following the June 15 debut, Sunny’s will be open daily, 8 am-4 pm, but soon fans will be able to visit at night. The restaurant will kick off after-hours services starting June 18, offering cocktails and deejays on Thursdays through Saturdays, 7 pm-midnight.
