San Antonio Japanese restaurant exits West Side after 6 months

Q Hibachi Express has closed its West Side location.
Quick-service San Antonio restaurant Q Hibachi Express has closed its West Side location, at 702 S Acme Rd., after less than a year in business. The closure of the fast Japanese joint marks the latest Alamo City eatery to batten down the hatches after a recent expansion.
The closure was first spotted by a user of the popular San Antonio Restaurants Facebook group. Multiple calls to the Acme location went unanswered, but an employee of the Nogalitos Street outpost confirmed it was closed. The employee did not know the exact date of the closure or the reasoning behind the move.
The second outpost of Q Hibachi opened in December 2024. Many Facebook commenters remarked that the location has seen several fast-food concepts come and go at a rapid clip.
Q Hibachi Express is mainly known for its cheap eats. Hibachi chicken and beef are the specialties, but the menu includes pan-Asian dishes like lo mein and egg drop soup. Guests can also grab sushi rolls and bento boxes.
The closure comes during an outbreak of closures in the San Antonio area. Many local restaurateurs are closing second locations to focus on more established flagships. In May alone, The Hayden and Bunz Handcrafted Burgers shuttered newer outposts after short runs.
The Nogalitos location of Q Hibachi Express continues to fire up its grills from 11 am-10 pm daily.
