Pirate-themed tiki bar drops anchor in downtown San Antonio

Paradise Unknown will open April 16.
The team behind the downtown San Antonio bar Be Kind and Rewind is turning back the clock even further. Paradise Unknown, a new tiki bar at 238 Losoya, will transport guests to the “golden age of piracy” when it opens on April 16.
By piracy, we don’t mean illegally downloading music on LimeWire. Instead, the bar plunders shipping floats, a giant skull, and crates to create an atmosphere that’s somewhere between Blackbeard’s Ghost and the Scooby Doo movie’s Spooky Island.
The bar will serve “tropical, craft-forward cocktails,” but a release didn’t mention whether they would be tiki classics like Mai Tais or rum-heavy originals.

Patrons can also nosh on small Mexican-Chinese bites from Tastemaker Award-nominated chef Jaime Gonzalez of Wok Wey.Paradise Unknown is the second downtown venture for the crew.
Arcade bar Be Kind & Rewind officially pressed play at 115 Alamo Plaza on October 28, 2022, and has been a popular destination ever since. Both have a knack for setting the vibe.

“At its core, Paradise Unknown is about escapism,” said concept creator and part-owner Alex Amaro, in a release. “Somewhere between the music, the cocktails, and the glow of a hidden world, guests might find themselves wondering how they got there and why they don’t want to leave.”
Following its Fiesta debut, Paradise Unknown will be open Monday through Thursday, 4 pm-2 am, and Friday through Sunday, 2 pm-2 am. All days run happy hour specials until 7 pm.
