SoCal’s Novo Brazil brewery makes Texas debut with San Antonio taproom

Novo Brazil Brewing Co. expects to open its first San Antonio taproom in late October.
After more than two years of anticipation, San Diego-based brewery Novo Brazil says it is finally ready to open its doors in San Antonio. A brewery rep says it is targeting the weekend of October 17 to debut its first Texas outpost inside North Park Mall at 7400 San Pedro Ave.
Novo Brazil first announced the expansion in 2023 when founder Tiago Carneiro told San Diego Beer News that San Antonio offers a prime opportunity to extend its brand outside Southern California. A Nova rep says the renovated 10,000-square-foot space is now hiring and training staff, and details on its grand opening celebration will be coming soon.
Carneiro, a native of Brazil, founded Novo Brazil in 2015, opening the company's first facility in Chula Vista, a suburb of San Diego. The brewery celebrated its anniversary with a party at the flagship location.
The company now has five locations, all in California, with one site concentrated on brewing Novo Brazil's Nova Easy kombucha brand. Novo Brazil currently offers eight core beers, six of which are IPAs.
The food menu features traditional pub grub like empanadas, a Brazilian hot dog topped with pico de gallo, shrimp ceviche, and yucca fries. Diners can also order family boards, a nod to the country's famous churrasco with skewers of prime sirloin or ribeye steaks accompanied by three large sides.
Although the October 17 opening date isn't set in stone just yet, the debut is imminent. San Antonio beer fans can find updates on Nova Brazil's Instagram.
