LA DOLCE VITA
New Italian restaurant says ciao to luxe San Antonio River Walk hotel

Moda Fare's dining room is washed in chic neutrals.
An upscale downtown San Antonio hotel is looking to give its guests a taste of “la dolce vita.” Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk has opened a new Italian restaurant, Moda Fare, at 600 E Market St., serving house-made pasta, antipasti, and gourmet pizza.
According to a release, the flagship restaurant is part of the Grand Hyatt’s nearly $9 million renovation. Moda Fare sets its fashionable tone with warm wood floors, plaster walls, and a sweep of neutral furnishings, including striated marble high-tops, faux shagreen club chairs, and a white tambour bar. Think Armani, not Versace.
As with many hotel restaurants, the new eatery is open all day with breakfast, lunch, and dinner services. Moda Fare also has a dedicated spuntino menu, light bites like focaccia or fritto misto that can be paired with an Aperol Spritz or a headier cocktail.

But the pasta will likely be its swiftest seller. Moda Fare serves heavier options like pappardelle Bolognese with lemon ricotta alongside a lighter campanelli with pancetta, fennel, and littleneck clams. All can be customized with chicken breast, meatballs, shrimp scampi, or cold-water lobster.
Although lunch and dinner are similarly hearty, the breakfast offerings are less likely to provoke a food coma. Lighter fare like a pesto scramble, focaccia avocado toast, and a slightly sweet amaranth bowl join an array of Italian pastries like sfogliatella, the Campania region’s famously flaky “lobster tail” treats.

“Moda Fare captures the essence of Italian style, where comfort, beauty, and tradition come together to offer a dining experience that feels both timeless and contemporary,” says general manager Ryan Fender in the release. “We’re thrilled to welcome the local community and hotel guests to experience this new space, where every detail has been thoughtfully curated to elevate their experience.”
Moda Fare is now open from 6:30 am-midnight, Sunday through Thursday, and 6:30 am-1 am, Friday and Saturday. Consult the website for specific service hours.
