San Antonio's La Panadería unveils details on massive Stone Oak cafe

After teasing expansion plans in early 2024, San Antonio's popular La Panadería Bakery Café has finally revealed the full details of its upcoming Stone Oak location. The anticipated space at 1011 N. Loop 1604 E will be the mini-chain's largest, with an opening slated for late fall.
La Panadería will take over the former home of Brick House Tavern and Tap, which vacated the space in 2022. According to a release, the building spans 6,600 square feet and offers a whopping 100 dedicated parking spaces and a roomy covered patio. The Stone Oak restaurant will be the fifth location of the chain.
"We've always believed in growing thoughtfully and with our guests in mind," said co-ownerJose Cáceres in the release. "Stone Oak is a vibrant and growing area, and we're excited to bring La Panadería to a new part of the city."
Since debuting in 2014, La Panadería has become one of San Antonio's biggest culinary phenomena. Tourists and locals line up daily for pan dulce and fusion treats like the croncha — a hybrid between a croissant and a Mexican concha. Those seeking something more substantial can enjoy a variety of sandwiches and salads, as well as all-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.
Like the La Cantera Heights and Midtown outposts, the new cafe will include a full bar with beer, wine, and mimosa kits. Higher octane offerings include margaritas, palomas, spritzes, and coffee cocktails like carajillos. Freshly squeezed juices and espresso drinks are available for non-imbibers.
There's still more to come from the busy restaurant group. Construction will soon be underway on La Panadería Express, a grab-and-go location at the Shops of La Cantera. State project details state construction on that project is set to wrap up in September, but no official timeframe has been announced for the opening.
