COMING ATTRACTIONS
Beloved San Antonio Italian chain to open new pizzeria in Southtown

Julian's Pizza & more will have some familiar favorites from the Julian’s Italian Pizzeria & Kitchen menu.
A much-loved homegrown Italian chain is making moves in San Antonio’s Southtown. After months of anticipation, Julian’s Pizza & More, a new concept from the family behind Julian’s Italian Pizzeria & Kitchen, will open at 620 S Presa St in October.
A rep from the restaurant says the opening date is not set in stone, but the team is hoping to open by the second week of October. The new spot replaces California hot dog joint Barrio Dogg, which shuttered in February after a brief run.
The rep says the new spot won’t be a carbon copy of its three sibling restaurants in Embassy Oaks, Bulverde, and Alamo Heights. For one, Julian’s Pizza & More will feature a small market where customers can load up on pasta, wine, beer, and other Italian imports.
“The menu is going to be new,” explains a Julian’s rep via an Instagram message. “It will highlight some of our customer favorites from our current locations, but we do plan on adding new items to the menu!”
The vibe will be different, too. The chain is known for its signature red checkered tablecloths, but the new pizzeria will be decorated with shades of blue and black, according to a vision board posted on social media. And an adorable new logo features the family dog, Moose.
Julian Solis learned Italian cuisine while working at Bambino Huey Cafe and Boccone’s Italian Restaurant, two restaurants owned by his wife Kara’s parents. The couple opened their own restaurant in 2006 and now share the restaurant dynasty with their two adult children, Cole and Hannah.
