Openings and closings
Crepeccino Café and Crêperie is experiencing a growth spurt. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation listing, the Medical Center eatery is set to open a new location at 813 Cibolo Valley Dr. #208. Owner Bara Echlayal also plans to expand to Shaenfield Road off Loop 1604. Although the address is not on the public record, Echayal told the San Antonio Current that construction will begin in April.
Government Hill's Folklores Coffee House is opening a new chapter. Via social media, owners Joel "Tatu" and Emilie Herrera teased a second outpost forthcoming in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. The couple didn't reveal the timeline for the upcoming shop but did say that it would share space with the "board lounge" CheeseMé at 106 Michigan Ave.
After 25 years in business, Bonds Rock Bar is unplugging its amps. In a social media statement, the long-running venue said the property had been sold to a developer to make way for a downtown hotel. The owners said the upstairs bar will close at the end of the year, and the one downstairs will remain open until the hotel breaks ground.
Tamale spot Las Chifladas is also calling it a wrap. In a Facebook message, the 27-year-old restaurant said it had decided not to renew its lease, which expires at the end of 2024. The name, however, may live on. The eatery is in talks with two potential owners.
Washington state chain Trapper's Sushi Co. opened its second Alamo City location at 6626 W. Loop 1604 N. #222 on September 30. The company is known for its Asian fusion appetizers, fun rolls, and an affordable all-you-can-eat option.
