Editor's note: We get it. It can be difficult to keep up with the fast pace of San Antonio's restaurant and bar scene. We have you covered with our weekly roundup of essential food news.

The Board Couple, one of the first local ventures to capitalize on the national mania for charcuterie and cheese boards, has spread out to a second location in Comfort. Owners Monica Nino and Bryan Gonzales founded the concept in 2018, first operating as a cottage food business before branching out to a Zarzamora Road brick-and-mortar. The new shop at 804 High St. B in the bedroom community's historic district officially debuted on October 14. Guests can expect a similar menu to its predecessor, including artisan sandwiches, grazing boards, desserts, and wine.
A new pizza joint is slicing into the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa. Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) records indicate that the property is renovating a space for a new pizza concept (a publicist shares that a name has not been finalized) with hopes of completion in early May 2024. Though scant details were provided with the paperwork, the concept likely will be counter-service only. The diminutive floorplan is 500 square feet.
HTeaO's manic quest to keep San Antonio hydrated is continuing, according to TDLR filings. The iced tea franchise, already operating five drive-thru locations and a mobile stand in San Antonio, is building yet another outpost at Culebra and Talley Roads. With previously announced locations coming soon to Potranco Road and North Foster Road, that will bring the grand tally to nine area options and perhaps innumerable area bathroom breaks.
Frost Bank Center, which suffers the indignity of being located on AT&T Center Parkway, has teamed up with Hye distillery Garrison Brothers on its newest hospitality offering. The Garrison Brothers Bourbon Bar began warming up Spurs fans on October 16, offering its signature product and seasonal cocktails.
Other news and notes
Vista Brewing's East Side relocation has cleared the way for some West Side manifest destiny. Shotgun House Coffee Roasters is taking over the brewer's former Warehouse 5 space, adding several improvements to the business. According to an Instagram post, the renovation will include expanded seating, a new coffee bar with beer on tap, and outdoor events. More importantly, the shop will add a proper pastry program featuring housemade doughnuts, focaccia sandwiches, and croissants. The first phase is expected to be completed by early November.
Like many locals emerging from this summer's fevered wasteland, Brasserie Mon Chou Chou is in a fall frame of mind. On October 16, the Pearl eatery rolled out an autumnal menu to knock diners' Uggs off. Among chef Laurent Réa's new offerings are roasted bone marrow with chimichurri, veal sweetbreads with a sunchoke mousseline, and a duck fat-washed Sazerac.
Surely, no San Antonian holds a soft spot for CPS Energy, but it's difficult to air grievances with a mouthful of smoked meats. For an eighth year, the local utility is hosting GrillsGiving at the South Side's Mission County Park. The shindig features a community barbecue cook-off, live music, activities for kids, and free parking. Admission for the October 21 event ranges from $15-150, with complimentary passes available for active and retired military with a valid ID.
