A REAL PIZZA WORK
Swanky San Antonio resort fires up new Neapolitan pizza joint
Sure, many people book fancy dinners after booking PTO, and others try to soak in the local flavor at food trucks. But no other food telegraphs vacay vibes as much as pizza. So, it’s no wonder that the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa would add a pizzeria to its slate of amenities.
Fiamme Pizzeria, the latest culinary offering from the popular destination, officially opened July 15, offering Neapolitan pies, seasonal salads, and house desserts.
Fired at 900 degrees in a custom Morello Forni pizza oven, the pizzas range from accessible kid-approved favorites to more sophisticated options for adults. In addition to Margherita, four cheese, and meaty options, the menu includes Tuscan garlic chicken pies and a hot honey pizza topped with Italian meats and cheeses.
A curated selection of appetizers and desserts supplement the carbs. Highlights include a strawberry caprese dip and burrata served with toasted pine nuts, sun-dried tomatoes, and a garlic vinaigrette. Sweets are taken care of through espresso tiramisu, milk chocolate orange cannoli, and limoncello cheesecake.
“Through the thoughtful collaboration of our culinary team, we’ve designed an authentic menu with local influences layered with the freshest ingredients,” explains Christin Day, the property’s sous chef tournant, via a release.
The drink offerings seem slim — the online menu only lists a couple of beer options and two draft cocktails — but there’s no shortage of booze at the resort. The JW Marriott has eight other hospitality options and with only 25 seats, a lot of Fiamme’s business will be take-away.
Fiamme is located in the lower lobby level of the hotel adjacent to Cibolo Moon. It is currently open to the public daily from 4-9 pm.
