Celeb-backed açai bowl chain to open near Shavano Park
Everbowl is planning a second San Antonio.
Everbowl has not yet made its San Antonio debut, but it’s already doubling its bet. The celeb-backed açaí bowl chain is opening a second location at 16719 Huebner Rd.
Although the franchise is rapidly growing, it’s relatively unknown in Texas. The chain has opened several outposts in Dallas-Fort Worth, but its expansion down Interstate 35 has so far been limited to a single Austin location.
Serial entrepreneur Jeff Fenster created the brand in 2016 after taking over the lease of Smoothie King in Poway, California, reportedly without restaurant experience. But he was obsessed with açaí bowls. After a trip to Hawaii, he began serving his friends the treats during football games instead of traditional snacks.
When Fenster finally translated his gameday hobby into a business, the Everbowl brand was an almost-instant success. Although he wasn't the first to adopt the trend, he was able to attract some high-profile backers like New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum, and social media personality and Resy cofounder Gary “Vee” Vaynerchuk. A decade after opening its first store, it is one of the largest bowl chains in the U.S.
Everbowl’s menu is similar to other açaí chains like Playa Bowls and locally owned Rise Up. The shop offers a few ready-to-order bowls, or guests can build their own from various fruit bases or more esoteric foundations like blue majik — a combo of spirulina, coconut cream, pineapple, and mango.
There are also smoothies and simple toasts, available in flavors like PB crunch, bruschetta, and, of course, avocado. Customers can buy the bowl’s bases separately for at-home experimentation or enjoy the scoops in an oatmeal cookie Everwich.
Unlike many of its national competitors, Everbowl has a broader wellness focus. It touts an Unevolve brand philosophy that urges a return to a basic, plant-based diet and a more active lifestyle.
“At Everbowl, we keep it simple — better for you yummies, keeping it moving, and good vibes,” it writes on its website.
Everbowl has not officially announced the opening timeline for this Huebner location or another unit being built at 5619 W Loop 1604 N. According to newly filed Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation project details, construction will end in January, 2027, although state timelines are subject to delay.
