OPENING ALERT
Babe’s debuts Northwest San Antonio restaurant after 2-year wait

Babe's Old Fashioned Food has finally opened its seventh location.
Maybe it’s not-so-fast food. After two years of anticipation, classic San Antonio burger joint Babe’s Old Fashioned Food has finally opened its newest restaurant at 7129 NW Loop 410.
“We’re now open at our brand-new location, Babe’s 410 & Culebra,” the restaurant recently wrote via an October 6 social media post. “Family-owned and operated, still serving up the same comfort food classics made with love.”
For fans of the long-running mini-chain, the location has been a long time coming. Babe’s first teased the outpost with an October 2023 Instagram post, later filing project details with the state. A tall sign was erected on the site, but its arrow pointed to a vacant lot for months.
The slow roll frustrated some of the location's neighbors, who were eager to have a Babe's closer to home.
"I pass that sign every day," wrote one Reddit user in 2023. "I live off Culebra and Ingram, so I too was super excited, but other than the sign going up nothing has been done other than demolishing the old rent a car building that was there for many, many years."
Babe’s Old Fashioned opened its first restaurant in 1987 and has slowly grown to seven locations. In October 2024, the same owners debuted a brand-new concept, Babe’s Crispy Chicken, at 12020 O’Connor Rd., that continued the chain’s no-frills approach with fried chicken combos and homestyle sides like mashed potatoes and collard greens.
The restaurant’s burgers are often cited among the best in Alamo City, but there are plenty of other comfort foods on the menu to please the fussiest of eaters. Babe’s serves nachos, pizza, chicken strips, and a half dozen fried appetizers, including onion rings, cheese sticks, and pickles.
Babe’s did not post its operating hours in its introductory post. According to its Google Business profile, it is open from 11 am-9 pm daily.
