SPLASHY DEBUTS
Ritzy Latin seafood restaurant anchors in Northwest San Antonio

Arenas Marisqueria Lounge is opening a new San Antonio location.
Upscale Stone Oak seafood restaurant and bar Arenas Marisqueria Lounge is diving into a new San Antonio location at 1322 W Loop 1604 N. Documents shared by Alamo City developer Dominion Advisory Group show the swanky spot will be the first tenant at West 1604 Market, a new retail center being built near Sea World.
The family behind Sabor Cocinabar opened the first Arenas at 19903 Stone Oak Pkwy. in November 2022. The restaurant aimed to evoke the lush vibes of Mexican resorts while still providing an everyday neighborhood option.
Most of the menu is based on family recipes, including the family patriarch's signature ceviches. Other splashy dishes include ostiones gratinados (oysters with Jack cheese, bacon, and a creamy mushroom sauce), shrimp chiles rellenos, Peruvian tiradito, and charales (crispy salted dried minnows).
"Our goal is to differentiate ourselves from the other Latin seafood restaurants in San Antonio," said executive chef Luis Vazquez Sr. in an earlier release. "We're not reinventing the wheel, but the goal is to be more subtle, more refined."
The bar riffs on the tropical theme with classic cantaritos, a jalapeño margarita, and a spritzy tequila drink with hibiscus syrup. Classics like Old Fashioneds get a Mexican twist with tequila, mezcal, and chocolate bitters.
The decor of the Stone Oak location takes cues from coastal nightlife, plastering the walls with neon signs, tropical murals, and wallpaper that recalls abalone shells. The dining room is washed in black light, giving it an after-hours glow.
According to the Dominion alert, West 1604 Market will debut in the last quarter of 2025. The site plans for Arenas include a 2,000-square-foot interior and covered side patio.
