Trendy Louisiana brunch chain cracks open first San Antonio café

Another Broken Egg Cafe is opening its first San Antonio location.
A new brunch chain is hoping to crack open San Antonio’s busy café scene. Another Broken Egg Cafe will make its Alamo City debut at 11625 Bandera Rd in the Bandera Pointe shopping center.
Founded in 1996 in Mandeville, Louisiana, near New Orleans, Another Broken Egg Cafe’s menu reflects its Southern heritage. Featured dishes include Cajun shrimp and crawfish omelettes, chicken ‘n’ waffles, and Bourbon Street pancakes topped with bananas, pecans, and rum butter.
Like most concepts in the crowded AM café genre, they also have booze. Brunch cocktails range from a gin-based twist on the Hurricane to margaritas to a lavender Hugo spritz. It calls its Screwdriver a Traditional Day Starter, which might only be true if you are Tennessee Williams.
The chain is a pioneer in the all-day brunch game, and currently has more than 100 locations in 17 states. The closest locations to San Antonio are in Austin, but it has a wide Texas presence in the Houston suburbs and Dallas-Fort Worth.
The franchise is not to be confused with long-running local diner The Broken Egg Cafe on Hackberry Street, although both no-doubt go through dozens of egg crates a day.
According to new Texas Department of Regulation filings, Another Broken Egg Cafe will begin construction of its 3,300 square foot location in June with an anticipated completion date in February 2027. State regulatory filings are subject to change without notice.
