Where to Drink
Where to drink in San Antonio right now: 5 hot bars to visit this fall
Deciding where to wet your whistle has never been easier, thanks to this guide to San Antonio's top five spots to see and be seen this month. All you have to do is show up and select which amazing drink to sip first.
Brooklynite
Always on point, the talent of Jeret Peña cannot be denied at this comfortable and beautiful bar. The cocktails are nothing short of amazing, and walking down the hallway is a journey into cocktail happiness. For fall, sip on a Bad Apple with gin, Suze, Cocchi Americano, creme de violette, and apple bitters.
Juniper Tar
Grab reservations for this hot spot — it's worth the effort. With a refreshed historical venue and manly character, Matty Gee brings bespoke style to San Antonio's burgeoning drink scene. Eclectic furniture and oversized leather sofas make you feel right at home, only everyone looks nice because there's a dress code.
George's Keep
We never want to leave the Keep. Tucked away at Éilan, newbies can rarely find it without instruction, a characteristic that most definitely adds to its charm. The house offerings are always solid and include an expansive beer list. Our last visit was all about a summer classic, the Mexican Firing Squad with blanco tequila, lime, grenadine, sugar, and habanero shrub.
The Friendly Spot
Bring your kids, bring your pups, but most importantly, bring your friends to San Antonio's Friendly Spot. This local ice house serves all of the good brews; the tough part is deciding which one to drink. We wish you luck.
Primero Cantina
This seamless indoor/outdoor space on the grounds of La Cantera offers quite possibly the best view to the vast Texas Hill Country. Our go-to cocktail is the Vote "4" Pedro, but don't let the name fool you. This cocktail is pure sophistication with ingredients like hibiscus syrup and hand-pressed serrano pepper. It's a definite must for the beautiful fall weather.
