5 best new San Antonio happy hour deals to drink on the cheap this fall
Not every San Antonian can live like Los Henrys, spending millions on every party. But that doesn’t mean locals have to dip into their rent money to live large. These five new Alamo City happy hours may not come with celebrity guests, but they offer us working stiffs something better — good friends and cold drinks.
Deco Pizzeria
Deco's new Medical Center outpost expands the original location's happy hour with extended hours (11 am-6:30 pm!) and even more specials. Guests can enjoy draft Bud Light pints and well drinks for only $3, and $2 off specialty cocktails like the tropical rum-based Off the ‘Burg or a classic margarita. Appetizers like fried pork skins, crispy calamari, and mozzarella sticks are also $2 off for guests sitting at the bar.
Merkaba
With psychedelic cocktails and an array of creative garnishes, this freshman River Walk bar is already a favorite of Instagram addicts. Get in on the action daily during the 5-8 pm happy hour when cocktails range from $5-$7, wells are $5, select domestic beers are $3, and Mexican suds are $4. We recommend trying the Pal’om’a — a high-low combo of Casa Noble Crystal tequila and Squirt shaken with lime juice and hibiscus syrup.
The Rustic
In late September, this casual joint in The Rim introduced a new promotion that makes watching the clock a heck of a lot more fun. The Happy Hourly from 3-6 pm on weekdays encourages diners to get started early with prices that steadily increase throughout the evening. From 3-4 pm, all beer, house wine, and frozé is $3 before the cost goes up to $4 from 4-5 pm. The fun times wind down between 5-6 pm, when guests pay a still very affordable $5.
Still Golden
Okay, this Broadway bar isn’t new new, but in a 300-year-old city, that’s a relative term. And besides, the happy hour, every weekday from 3-7 pm, is banging with $6 cocktails like Negronis, Old Fashioneds, and Moscow Mules. If booze isn’t your thing, enjoy a buck off glasses of wine or draft beers. Either way, you’ll leave shining.
Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery
The oyster bar outside this Pearl staple is barely a month old, but it's already shaking things up with a new happy hour. Every day between 3-5 pm, enjoy $1 pressure fried wings (the method helps ensure an extra juicy end product) and 75 cent biscuits with $2 off all beer, wine, punches, and mixes. The seafood isn’t part of the deal, but order a couple of selections anyway.
