San Antonio arena scores new restaurant and tequila bar from celebrated chef
San Antonio Spurs fans and foodies have something to cheer about, thanks to an exciting development inside the AT&T Center. On August 29, acclaimed hometown chef Johnny Hernandez announced he is bringing La Gloria and Burgerteca to the arena.
“In recent years I have seen venues across the country incorporate their local chef community in the interest of elevating the guest experience for loyal sports fans,” says Hernandez in a release. “There is nothing more exciting for us than to be partnering with a beloved local organization like Spurs Sports & Entertainment to enrich the culinary experience at the AT&T Center for the San Antonio community.”
The new outpost will be a hybrid of Hernandez's two popular Alamo City restaurants, offering selections from both. While the opening menu has not been finalized, guests can expect a combination of Mexican street foods like tacos and tortas alongside creative burgers topped with everything from mole to grilled pineapple, according to a representative.
A premium bar will anchor the space, so customers can celebrate wins or drown their sorrows during losses. Tequila will be a particular focus, with a selection of rare bottles and house infusions. The restaurants’ signature margaritas will also be available.
Located on the balcony level of the building’s east concourse and open to all patrons, the new eatery is designed to make sure fans don’t miss a moment of the action. A wall-to-wall window looks directly into the arena, and TVs will be prominently displayed throughout the interior.
The team is shooting for a November opening; look for the complete bar and food menus to be released at a later date.
