Popular cookie company treats San Antonio to new store and day of giving
On March 31, San Antonio will get a little sweeter. According to a release, Tiff’s Treats, the Austin-based bakery and cookie delivery chain, is welcoming its fifth Alamo City shop at 8110 West Loop 1604 with a grand opening that gives locals a chance to help families in need.
The company, founded by Leon Chen and Tiffany Taylor Chen (the concept’s namesake “Tiff”) has been in rapid expansion mode over the last few years, having raised $50 million in investments since 2015. The funds have helped a business that was once run out of Leon’s apartment expand to almost 40 stores in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, College Station, Atlanta, and Nashville. The first San Antonio location opened in 2014.
Since 2008, philanthropy has been built into the business, and it has become a tradition for each new location to donate proceeds from the first day’s sales to a nonprofit. The West Loop shop is partnering with Gabriella’s Smile Foundation, an organization that provides assistance to families with children fighting diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas (DIPG) and other pediatric brain cancers. Up to $5,000 in proceeds will go directly to the nonprofit.
Tiff’s Treats is also encouraging customers to bring in new, unwrapped toys during their first visit, which will be donated to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. The company will give each donor a $5 gift card in return.
And as if all that wasn’t enough, the shop has plenty of other goodies in store on March 31. The first 40 customers in line at 9 am will score a $100 gift card from the company and all others in line will receive a $10 gift card — as long as they are over 18. In addition, all opening customers will have a chance to win a year of free cookies.
As an extra perk, each customer can buy up to six one-dozen boxes (call ahead orders do not count) filled with favorite flavors like chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, or snickerdoodle for only $5. Don’t forget to search the box after you eat all the delicious cookies though. Tiff’s Treats will be randomly sneaking in gift cards from San Antonio shops and restaurants throughout the day.
