Last call announced for beloved Pearl district bar
Stay Golden Social House has announced last call. "It's official. There are only 100 days left before we have to say goodbye to all of you. Let's get weird and enjoy the time that we have together," the team posted to Facebook on March 14. The bar will shutter in June.
Stay Golden, the brainchild of Jeret Peña (The Brooklynite, The Last Word) and Chris Erck (Swig Unlimited, which includes Viva Tacoland), opened in 2014 with craft cocktails and killer happy hour deals. The open-air hangout attracted a steady crowd seeking top-notch drinks and service with an affordable price tag.
The building will be demolished later this year to make way for a new office space from Silver Ventures, the developer behind the Pearl. A plan for a two-tower structure totaling 334,000 square feet, plus a parking lot, was recently approved by the San Antonio Historic and Design Review Commission. With the exception of Stay Golden, the 3-acre lot is largely unoccupied.
Silver Ventures is also working on a new food hall for the Pearl. Located on the brewery's south side, the 10,000-square-foot facility will provide a diverse range of local cuisine. An exact opening date has yet to be released.
