Boy oh boy
San Antonio burger restaurant reveals juicy plans for third location on Far West Side
They say good things come in threes. On January 24, news broke that San Antonio’s most popular burger joint is adding a third location.
A rep from Burger Boy confirms that the eatery is planning to open a new outpost. The news was first teased via an Instagram post that showed the street signs for the intersection of Liberty Field and Leslie Road on the Far West Side. An exact address has yet to be established.
The location is part of an expansion plan from an ownership group comprised of Rick Molina, Guy Ellison, Tony Salinas, and Bruce Pohlmeier. Longtime fans of the original restaurant on the St. Mary’s Strip, the quartet announced ambitious expansion plans when they first purchased the name from owner Carl Bates in 2017.
The first phase of that growth came in February 2018 when a second Burger Boy popped up at 9334 Potranco Rd. Although much more contemporary in design, the restaurant kept signatures of the original, including the iconic chef mascot and the sharply pitched midcentury roofline. No word yet on whether the third outpost will follow a similar template.
Like its predecessors, the latest addition to the family will focus on thin patty burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheeses, and chicken sandwiches served with crinkle fries. The chain’s famous Orange Freeze and Big Red shakes will also be available.
Since Burger Boy is the first phases of the project, there is no exact date for the debut. The rep did share that the company expects to be dishing up Working Man specials sometime in the summer.
