Since debuting in 2007, the riverfront Whitewater Amphitheater outside New Braunfels has hosted some of music’s biggest stars. Among them are Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Miranda Lambert, Zach Bryan, Chance the Rapper, Halsey, Neil Young, and ZZ Top.
Today, however, the venue’s website lists no upcoming shows.
In July, the outdoor venue’s operating company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to reorganize finances and stop a scheduled foreclosure sale. Two months later, the venue and three nearby properties are on the market as part of the bankruptcy case.
Hilco Real Estate, which is marketing the portfolio, says the properties — all in the Guadalupe River corridor — can be purchased piece by piece or as a whole. Prospective buyers must submit bids by September 22.
Whitewater Amphitheater is the crown jewel of the four-property portfolio. The nine-acre site, adjacent to Camp Fimfo, accommodates 5,600 concertgoers who can sip adult beverages at a two-story bar and beer garden.

The amphitheater’s “riverfront setting provides a distinctive experience that cannot be replicated by a conventional concert venue,” Hilco says in a release.The other properties up for sale are:
- Hideout on the Horseshoe, a 19-cabin riverfront compound and wedding venue on four acres near Canyon Lake. “A spacious riverfront patio and covered open-air pavilion provide … opportunities for gatherings, private events, and experiential programming,” Hilco says.
- Whitewater Condos, a more than 1-acre property featuring three short-term rental units and direct access to the Guadalupe River. The property also includes a one-bedroom apartment and serves as the primary put-in point for Andy’s River Toobs.
- A 1.5-acre property, adjacent to the amphitheater, that’s home to Andy’s River Toobs, a tube rental business, and Jay & Diane’s Horseshoe Grill, a burger joint. Hilco calls the property “an attractive redevelopment opportunity.”
Together, the four properties “create a cohesive collection of assets in a premier Texas Hill Country destination,” Hilco says.
“Strategically positioned within the Guadalupe River entertainment and recreation corridor,” Hilco says, the New Braunfels-Canyon Lake area “has become a well-established destination drawing visitors from throughout Texas and beyond for live music, tubing, boating, fishing, camping, and waterfront lodging.”
