Apartment alternative
San Antonio's newest luxury homes are available for renters only
Fed up with apartment living but can’t afford to buy your own home? A hybrid of those two choices is coming to the San Antonio area.
AHV Communities, based in Irvine, California, is developing two build-to-rent projects in the region — one in San Antonio and the other in New Braunfels. In all, the two projects will deliver 475 detached single-family homes for renters only.
AHV broke ground on the San Antonio project, called Pradera, in August 2017. It’ll feature 250 luxury homes. Pradera is one mile west of Loop 1604 and Culebra Road.
Construction on the New Braunfels project, known as Creekside Ranch, is scheduled to get underway in the second quarter of 2018. The New Braunfels community will offer 215 luxury homes. Creekside Ranch is close to I-35 and Creekside Crossing.
No word yet on what the rental rates will be for either project.
The first move-ins at Pradera are scheduled for the second or third quarter of 2018, while the first move-ins at Creekside Ranch are planned for the second or third quarter of 2019.
At both Pradera and Creekside Ranch, the one- and two-story homes will feature three or four bedrooms and two or two and a half bathrooms. The size of each home will range from about 1,400 to 1,900 square feet. Every home will come with a front yard, backyard, and two-car garage.
Among the interior highlights at each community will be quartz countertops, wood-style flooring, walk-in closets, washer-and-dryer hookups, stainless steel appliances, and energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems.
Pradera’s common areas will include a clubhouse equipped with Wi-Fi, cafe-style work areas, a community kitchen, a luxury swimming pool, a fitness center, a dog park, and walking trails.
Creekside Ranch will boast community amenities such as a clubhouse equipped with Wi-Fi, a fitness center, a luxury swimming pool, green space, and barbecue/picnic areas.
Property maintenance, including yardwork, will be the responsibility of AHV.
