Kim Kardashian shapewear brand SKIMS cinches first San Antonio store

Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand SKIMS is squeezing into San Antonio. The undergear brand, known for its minimalism and size inclusivity, is opening a new boutique at 15900 La Cantera Pkwy in the Shops at La Cantera as early as this fall.
The storefront marks the official debut of the brand in Alamo City. Not only is it the first San Antonio location, but the SKIMS website currently doesn’t list any local stockists. Previously, customers seeking a waist cincher had to log on online.
Kardashian and Swedish entrepreneur Jens Grede founded SKIMS in 2019, with her then-husband, Kanye West, acting as a “ghost” creative director. The launch was an immediate success. According to Teen Vogue, the initial line sold out within minutes.
Though it offers a popular product, the label also serves as an extension of Kardashian’s personal branding. The bodysuits, bras, and boy shorts are mostly sold in neutral colorways — echoing the celebrity’s heavily monochromatic style and her monastery-like Hidden Hills estate.
Her more recent forays — such as a Nike collaboration — do allow for some colors like “Himalayan” (a dusty pink) and “dusty oakmoss.” And SKIM’s pajamas are practically a riot with lace details and (gasp!) prints. It’s hard to imagine the media mogul lounging in a swirl of cheetah spots and zebra stripes while admiring her collection of grey cars, but it does make for good commerce.
The brand has not yet divulged the timeline for the La Cantera store, but new Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation project details give some clues. Although not always reliable, the filing says construction will finish up in September ahead of the holiday shopping season.
