Scissors & Scotch
Modern barber and booze experience cuts into San Antonio's Quarry shopping center
Everyone knows not to combine running with scissors, and while clippers and booze may at first glance seem like an equally questionable idea, Scissors and Scotch puts the first in a professional's hand, and the latter in the customer's. The modern barber experience just moved into San Antonio, opening its doors this past week at the Quarry.
According to a release, the shop offers customers "the grooming experience every man deserves," creating the old fashioned barbershop experience where customers can enjoy an Old Fashioned while being pampered by some of the most highly trained stylists in the industry. The idea combines the traditional barber concept with a modern spa service and speakeasy cocktail bar.
“Our Austin location [of Scissors and Scotch] has actually developed its own bar crowd,” owner Bryan Frnka of HS Ventures explains in a release. “You don’t have to be a member or get a service to stop in for a drink, but it would be a shame not to treat yourself to a trim or shave while you’re here.”
Located at 260 E. Basse Rd., Unit 103, the new location is the first of what Frnka hopes will be many more to come in the San Antonio area. Frnka has seen franchise success in Austin with other brands such as Palm Beach Tan and Amazing Lash Studio, which also has eight locations in San Antonio. He plans to open five more Scissors and Scotch outposts in San Antonio over the next five years, as well as five electro-muscular stimulator workout program locations called Body20.
The Quarry location of Scissors and Scotch is now open, and Frnka is already looking to secure the lease for a second location.
“We want to keep that personalized and tailored experience for our guests,” he says. “That means expanding to North San Antonio and the surrounding areas to meet the growing demand. I am very excited about our plans here in San Antonio — serving not only our customer base but growing the local workforce.”
