OPENING ALERT
National thrift chain to open first San Antonio store

Red White & Blue Thrift Store offers everything from toys to apparel.
Finally, another place to use all that styling inspo you’ve been logging on Instagram. National secondhand shop Red White & Blue Thrift Store will open its first San Antonio location at 5722 Walzem Rd. on April 23.
One word of warning — bring cash.
A small sign on the building’s facade warns that the shop does not accept credit. An ATM is available inside for impromptu purchases, but a “small fee applies.”A former Goodwill location in Windrest underwent $1.8 million in renovations for the new tenant out of Ventura, California.
Once opened, the store promises a fresh daily selection of gently used apparel, toys and games, small furnishings and decor, kitchen items and small appliances, tools, and more.
The store also buys new items in bulk, passing along the discounts to its shoppers. Even with the shiny merchandise, some Yelp reviews warn that shoppers should prepare for a stripped-down “treasure hunt” experience. Some stores only have mirrors instead of fitting rooms.
In addition to the payment policy, Red White and Blue has another difference from most San Antonio thrift stores. Unlike Goodwill and Salvation Army, it is a for-profit venture and does not support local nonprofits.
The Walzem Road location is the chain's 32nd store overall. Most of the stores are in California and Florida, but the chain has made an investment in Texas with shops in Houston and Arlington.
