CLEVER BOOTS
Swanky San Antonio bootmaker kicks off new Hotel Emma collab
Fraulein Boot Company is stepping into San Antonio's fashion scene with a limited-edition collaboration fit for an anniversary celebration. The Alamo City-based luxury bootmaker has teamed up with Hotel Emma to release two new handcrafted boots, Emma and Otto.
Although the release marks the hotel's 10th birthday, it's also a first for Fraulein. Otto is the first men's boot the company has ever produced.
"Launching Fraulein's first men's boot in partnership with Hotel Emma felt like a natural evolution for our brand," said co-founder Sarah Caruth in a release. "Otto and Emma are more than just boots; they're wearable tributes to heritage, hospitality, and resilience. Each pair captures the same spirit that defines both of our brands: bold, beautiful, and built to last."
The boots pay homage to the foundational couple of the Pearl development's legacy. Otto is named for Otto Koehler, the notable lothario who founded the San Antonio Brewing Association, the precursor to Pearl Brewing. Emma nods to hotel namesake Emma Koehler, who kept the brewery afloat after her husband's tomcatting cost him his life.
The actual designs aren't nearly as scandalous. Both are in shades of tobacco brown, working in a blend of Mexican, South Texas, and European influences. Emma adds a bit more color through poppy turquoise, white, and teal inserts. Although less flashy than Fraulein's usual "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" showstoppers, the boots display the brand's commitment to quality craftsmanship and timeless Texas style.
The Emma and Otto boots are now available online and at Curio, Hotel Emma's curated gift shop, as well as online for shoppers beyond Pearl's courtyard. Both styles retail for $995, not exactly a bargain price, but still more affordable than a night in one of Emma's suites.
