Disco Alfresco returns to San Antonio with brand-new venue

The SoundCream Airstream DJs are back with Disco Alfresco this summer.
Beloved open-air series Disco Alfresco is back for another twirl around the dancefloor with two big changes: a new home at San Antonio’s Sunken Garden Theater and a $5 admission fee. The Thursday-night series, running from 7-10 pm, June 4 through July 30 at 3875 N. St. Mary's St., features a different DJ lineup and theme each week, from R&B Rodeo to Cumbia Rave.
“Five dollars is the cost of keeping this thing alive and making it bigger than it has ever been,” say the event’s organizers in a release.
The annual, sometimes sweaty, dance party has been a community staple since 2017 when Soundcream DJs Andres Rizo and Danielle Collier first brought the event to Pearl. Since then, the event has stopped by Hemisfair and underwent a rebranding, but it is still an excuse to boogie or simply gather with friends or family outdoors.
And it still plays an eclectic soundtrack inspired by the city. This year’s genre mish-mash includes house, funk, Tejano, cumbia, R&B and hip-hop.
Have two left feet? Food trucks and other vendors will be on site and guests may bring their own cooler, making the occasion fit for a very rowdy picnic.
“The production is larger,” continue the organizers. “The artists are coming from across Texas. The SoundCream Airstream is rolling onto a real stage for the first time in its history.”
Here’s this year’s lineup:
- June 4: R&B Rodeo with local DJs Catwalk and Jacqs
- June 11: Soul Train, a night of disco, soul, funk and boogie with Work Husbands, aka DJs Ryan Holloway and Senseiquis of Houston
- June 18: Houston’s 4 p.m. in Soweto leads a Juneteenth takeover, playing Afrobeats, South African rhythms, and amapiano — a hybrid of deep house, jazz, and lounge music originating from South Africa
- June 25: House Arrest, a house music exploration with local DJs LZRCAT, Cura, Lyrata, and San Jose
- July 2: Perreo Picnic, where Austin DJs Suxxy Puxxy and Dragonqueen transform the venue into a perreo club filled with the sounds of reggaeton
- July 9: Boogie Nights, an evening of classic disco and house music with DJ Boogietraxx of Austin
- July 16: Island Heat, a vibes takeover with Austin DJ Jamie Dred featuring dance hall, reggae, Caribbean, and global rhythms
- July 23: Houston DJ Saynt Christ
- July 30: Cumbia Rave wraps up the 2026 Disco Alfresco series with Austin DJ Helios and a night of cumbia, Tejano, and Latin hits
