Condé Nast Traveler ranks San Antonio children's museum among best in U.S.

The DoSeum was named one of the best children's museums in the U.S.
During its 10th anniversary year, San Antonio children's museum The DoSeum has been given one heck of a birthday present. Condé Nast Traveler has named the Upper Broadway learning space one of the best children's museums in the United States.
The travel magazine selected 10 museums nationwide for honors, but did not assign rankings. In the introduction, contributing editor Ashlea Halpern wrote that the Condé Nast’s picks stood out for imaginative playscapes and a commitment to taking on “unique and important subjects.”
Halpern gave a shout out to the DoSeum’s current “Emotions at Play with Pixar’s Inside Out” exhibit, a display meant to help kids deal with emotional roller coasters. The write-up also cited some of the space’s most popular exhibitions, including the bubble lab, robot arena, musical staircase, treehouse, and outdoor water features.
“Among [The DoSeum’s] more than 100 bilingual experiences is a clever Spy Academy, which invites kids to put on their special agent caps and crack top-secret codes, and a dedicated Sensations Studio for experimenting with light and sound,” wrote Halpern.
Condé Nast did not mention the museum’s 2022 “Uniquely Us: Understanding Race and Building Unity” exhibition, but it certainly qualifies as an important subject. Conceived in the aftermath of the George Floyd murder, the now-traveling exhibit addressed challenging questions related to the issue and celebrated diversity and those who fight against injustice.
The DoSeum recently celebrated its 10th birthday with a community celebration, but its free and affordable programming keeps the calendar packed all year. June and July are filled up with maker and artist workshops for all ages.
