Just keep fishing
Beloved San Antonio park casts off with family-friendly day of fishing
Not all addictions are bad, according to one local nonprofit, Fin Addict Angler Foundation. Aiming to promote angler education, foster fishing skills, and reinforce the importance of land stewardship, the local organization hosts free group fishing clinics for all ages. This weekend, they're coming to Brackenridge Park for Family & Friends Fishing Day.
Partnering with the park's conservancy group, Fin Addict will host a fishing clinic for ages 5 to 16 on Saturday, October 22, from 10 am to 2 pm. A fishing license is not required for event participants, who will have the chance to catch from over 600 native catfish provided by Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation.
Instructors will be on hand to educate participants on the basics of fishing through fun educational methods. Guests can bring their own fishing equipment and bait to fish all day, and participants who bring their own equipment are welcome to continue fishing after the class. Fishing rods will also be available to use for free through the group's loaner program, along with bait, during the clinic.
Onsite registration for the event will begin at 10 am and end at 1 pm, and pre-registration is available on the Fin Addict website. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and sun protection.
