Stripes stores pouring limited edition Selena cups into San Antonio
Just a few weeks after Selena's coveted H-E-B bags sold out almost immediately, San Antonians have another opportunity to pick up the superstar's swag. On April 7, Corpus Christi-based convenience store Stripes will sell limited edition Selena reusable cups at all of store locations in Texas and Louisiana. (Sorry, Oklahoma!)
Retailing for $2.99, the cups will be available in two designs: a black and white portrait of the Tejano singer and a jazzy watercolor by New York-based artist Santi Siguenza. The colorful depiction also doubles as the official logo for Corpus Christi's 2018 Fiesta de La Flor event.
Stripes worked with Selena's sister, Suzette Quintanilla, to design the commemorative cups, and notes that a portion of the proceeds will go to Selena Foundation in support of youth education. "Our customers are some of the most loyal Selena fans in the world and these cups are a unique way to show our support and love for Selena," said Greg Kirian, director of marketing for Stripes, in a release.
Beginning at 8 am on April 7, San Antonio customers can begin lining up at any of the five local Stripes in order to purchase the cups, which then go on sale promptly at 9 am. They are limited to four per person and available while supplies last, so make sure to bring a friend if you're looking to make a Selena set. In advance of what they knew would be a buzzworthy event, Stripes has also created a FAQ page answering (almost) every conceivable question about these cups.
For those who miss out on the sale, never fear; customers will have one more chance to snag the Selena swag on April 13-14 at Fiesta de La Flor. Granted, that's quite a road trip to buy a reusable cup, but who are we to judge?
