TEATRO PARA TODOS
San Antonio Latine theater toasts a decade with new 2026 season
Teatro Audaz is kicking off its 10th anniversary season.
Ten years in, San Antonio’s Teatro Audaz is taking its biggest bow yet. The award-winning Latine theatre company has announced “Audaz X: A Decade of Familia,” an anniversary season packed with three mainstage productions and a returning sketch comedy series.
Laura T. Garza, Alison Vasquez, and Paula Rodriguez founded Teatro Audaz as Audacious Theatre in 2016. Since then, the company has been singularly focused on highlighting marginalized communities, staging plays by and about Latine, refugee, women, and LGBTQ-plus voices.
This season’s mainstage lineup — all regional or San Antonio premieres — keeps the decade-long tradition. The three productions include:
- Con Mis Manos: Everyone's Familia (July 9 to 19) — a bilingual drama about a Deep South Texas family reckoning with their mother's cancer
- Aye, No! A Modern Gay Fairy Tale (August 27 to September 6), a tale of a college student who brings a “friend” home to meet her family
- Esperanza Rising (December 16 to 22) — a historical work following a pampered landowner's daughter forced to labor as a migrant farmworker during the Great Depression
Locals needing a laugh can check out the return of MAXX: Sketchy Nights in San Antonio, an anarchic comedy series billed as “SNL-style energy with puro San Anto flavor.” The monthly showcases kick off June 24, followed by shows in late July, September, and October.
All of the above will take place at a central location for the first time in the company’s history. Through 2026, Teatro Audaz will keep its office, rehearsal, storage, and performance spaces with SAY Sí at the youth arts organization's 1310 S. Brazos St. campus.
"Having all of our work in one place, even for this season, is a meaningful step forward for our company," said executive artistic director Garza in a release. "This partnership with SAY Sí allows us to operate more intentionally, deepen our community connections, and continue building the kind of artistic home our artists and audiences deserve."
In addition to the performance season, Audaz runs the Camp Viva Broadway summer camp, currently in session. The youth program culminates with a student showcase on June 20, a production of Gary Soto’s Novio Boy.
Tickets for the shows range from $20-$35. Theater fans can check the online schedule for matinees, special ASL and education nights, and Teatro Pa’ Todos, which makes the arts more accessible through a pay-what-you-can model.
