San Antonio museum celebrates AAPI Month with free admission and family-friendly activities on May 7
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and on San Antonio institution is celebrating with a host of family-friendly activities. On Sunday, May 7, San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA) will host a special Family Day, with free admission and festive fun.
Bexar County residents can take advantage of free admission to the museum from 10 am to 12 pm. Then, from 11 am to 3 pm, visitors can enjoy a slate of colorful and creative fun. Highlights include a dance performance by the Rhythmics School of Kathak Dance; a performance by The Dragon Alliance Association; a calligraphy demonstration with local artist Yaping Zhang; movement workshops by the Magik Theatre; and much more.
Visitors also will be able to join guided tours of Creative Splendor: Japanese Bamboo Baskets from the Thoma Collection and SAMA's Asian Art Collection.
And while consuming art satiates one appetite, refreshments will also be available for purchase from Sari-Sari Filipino Restaurant & Bakery and Akhanay Coffee Roasters.
