Want to crib the cozy aesthetic seen in Nora Ephron movies like When Harry Met Sally… and You’ve Got Mail? Crate & Barrel is opening a 20,000-square-foot showroom in the Shops of La Cantera at 15900 La Cantera Parkway #12250, its first San Antonio store.
The Illinois lifestyle brand has filed Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation paperwork for its San Antonio debut. Although state filings are subject to change, the project aims to wrap up construction in late August 2026.
Crate & Barrel is known for its unfussy furniture that blends contemporary lines with traditional finishes. That means a lot of nubby white, grey, and greige textures, although the brand occasionally goes buckwild with a navy or olive green. The case goods are similarly tasteful, more suitable for a modern farmhouse than a bohemian pied-à-terre.
The rom-com fantasy continues to its pillow and throws, which mostly stick to plaids or stripes if it has any pattern at all. Serving wear is similarly tasteful in wood, glass, and white China that is only slightly less blinding than Julia Roberts’ smile.
The smart money is on the holiday goods. 2025’s hottest social media holiday trend, “Ralph Lauren Christmas,” is highly represented with hemlock and berry garlands, red Fair Isle knit stockings, and a glittery bauble festooned with holly.
Currently, the closest Crate & Barrel showroom is in Austin, which also has a location of sibling brand CB2. The outlet store in San Marcos has been closed for several years.
The Shops of La Cantera has recently been on a roll with a slate of upcoming high-profile tenants, including hippie-chic activewear brand FP Movement, minimalist furniture store Arhaus, and comfy shoe company Rothy’s. A request for more information on the openings was not returned by publication time.
