Janis Turk
Janis Turk is an award-winning travel and food writer, photographer and travel guidebook author, and guest travel expert appearing on CNN’s Airport Network. Her writing and photography have been published in numerous magazines, newspapers, and books, including United Airlines Hemispheres, Southwest Airlines Spirit, The Chicago Tribune, The Dallas Morning News, The Houston Chronicle, The San Antonio Express-News, AAA Traveler, Where magazine, and more. Turk also scribes online pieces for popular travel sites such as The Travel Channel, Virgin Atlantic, Frommers.Com, and GoNomad where she is a contributing editor. Turk is the author of Frommer’s San Antonio and Austin Day by Day. She has also authored travel guides to both New Orleans and San Antonio for Smarter Travel. Turk is the silver winner of the prestigious New York Travel Festival competition for travel literature in 2013, and she won first place in the GoNomad’s Best Travel Writing Awards 2009 as well as Honorable Mention in the Solas Best Travel Writing Awards. Her food photography appears in the James Beard Media Award-Nominated travel and cookbook, Come in We’re Closed (Running Press), and Queens: A Culinary Passport (St. Martin’s Press). When not traveling, Janis resides in the San Antonio/Austin area and spends a great deal of time in New Orleans.
