San Antonio Airport lands 2M Smokehouse and Bakery Lorraine

Bakery Lorraine is one of four new concepts coming to San Antonio's airport.
San Antonio International Airport (SAT) has plans to add more local flavors. Acclaimed Alamo City restaurants Bakery Lorraine and 2M Smokehouse have been drafted to open stands in Terminal B, along with a tasting room from Fredericksburg winery Becker Vineyards and a new Popeye’s.
San Antonio Director of Airports Jesus H Saenz revealed the upcoming concessions during a May 14 City Council session. An opening timeline will be established once Council approves the contracts later in the year.
To make room for the new concepts, Alamo Alehouse, Charleys Cheesesteaks, Pronto!, and Sbarros Pizza will be booted, a small price to pay for the addition of Bakery Lorraine and 2M, a pair of restaurants with James Beard Award nominations under their belt.
Saenz did not offer any menu details for either concept, but 2M’s lineup of smoked meats, sandwiches, and sides is already friendly to a window location. Assumably, the Bakery Lorraine location will sell its French pastries and famous macarons. The rendering showed a small grab-and-go case, unavailable at their other outposts.
Although not San Antonio-owned, the Becker Vineyards wine bar will highlight SABJ’s connection to the Hill Country and the increasingly popular Texas wine region. Miami-based Popeye’s, of course, has thousands of international locations. But it’s reportedly Beyoncé’s favorite fast-food chain, so it gets a pass.
SABJ has long relied on national chains for its hospitality and retail outlets. However, it is increasingly taking the lead of other city airports, like Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, which centers local culture. A bevy of San Antonio businesses will debut at the airport in the upcoming months, including Feliz Modern, Freight Fried Chicken, Pharm Table, Southerleigh, and Tre Trattoria.
The dining additions are part of a $2.5 billion plan to expand and modernize the airport. Construction on the cornerstone project, a third terminal, began in December 2024 and is expected to debut in 2028. During the presentation, Saenz said the airport is now forging ahead with a new parking building and the Ground Transportation Center, adding 2,000 parking spots to SABJ.
