OPENING ALERT
Chic new wine bar and cigar lounge boosts Bulverde’s dining scene

Twine is Bulverde's newest dining destination
Bulverde may not be what most people think of as a dining destination, but an ambitious new restaurant, cigar lounge, and wine bar might change some minds. Twine at 2471 Bulverde Road will officially open on October 2, offering a swanky hangout for parents and children alike.
Owner Kristina Zinna says she came up with the idea when her son was little. With few options in the area for a drink or a quick nibble, she would have to haul her family to the JW Marriott San Antonio Hotel & Spa. The former Rackspace employee soon came up with a concept that would combine sophisticated fare for adults and a family-friendly play space.
"I told my husband, 'One day, I'm going to get to do this,'" says Zinna.
The concept became a reality when she and her husband, master plumber Litterio "Terry" Zinna, found a vintage Bulverde home on a sprawling property shaded by old-growth oaks. With help from her husband's business partnerTito Garcia, general contractor Curtis Ramey, Get'r Done woodworking, and CM Interiors, the vision came to life over two years.

Zinna says the name comes from a family group chat that narrowed 15 possibilities into five finalists. When she fatefully discovered birds' nests woven with twine on the property, she knew all the other names couldn't compare.
The menu is accessible with bites that will appeal to all ages. Highlights include Parmesan truffle fries, pulled pork sliders, wings, caviar tater tots, and meatballs adapted from Zinna's own recipe. Guests can also snack on two flat bread pizzas — a sophisticated fig and prosciutto version and another latticed with pepperoni strips.
The full bar boasts over 45 wine bottles, with several choices priced under $50. On the cocktail side, Zinna recommends the cucumber martini, made with house-infused vodka that is carefully strained with each pour.
Beyond the food and drink offerings, Twine is a place where area families can unwind. In addition to the play area, the concept boasts a wine cellar, a humidor, and an outdoor stage for live music. The team even built outdoor restrooms so guests wouldn't have to travel far from the action.
As previously reported, Twine is just the first phase of the Bulverde complex. Zinna says she is already working on Vincenzo's, which will offer higher-end Italian cuisine. The restaurant will include a private dining room and a members-only lounge with wine and cigar lockers.
