Cookie dough shop opens new location near UTSA with first-day freebies

It's 2025 and San Antonians can buy almost anything they want, including gourmet cookie dough to be eaten unbaked at the store. The San Antonio-based Scooped Cookie Dough Bar is opening a second local store on Saturday, February 1, this time near the University of Texas campus at 7211 Green Glen Dr.
The store will be giving away free scoops from noon to 8 pm on opening day.
Although it's become more common over the past decade or so, many people still aren't quite sold on the safety of eating raw cookie dough. Scooped knows the first words out of many mouths will contain "salmonella," and counters the concern with assurances that it uses pasteurized eggs and heat-treated flour.
"Raw," then, is a debatable term for this snack, but the important part is the cookies haven't been baked. (On its website, Scooped calls it "a safe to eat raw cookie dough experience.")
The scoops are served a lot like ice cream, with toppings like chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and candy. The dough flavors also get creative, like a slightly spiced Mexican Hot Chocolate or the Compost with milk chocolate and butterscotch chips, crushed potato chips, pretzels, and graham cracker nuggets.
According to company materials, Scooped first opened in San Antonio in 2017. It has presented as a franchise, with real or planned locations in states including California, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, and more. In 2020 it shared plans to open at least 17 new restaurants, according to a press release at the time. Although the brand's website still offers information on franchising, it only lists one San Antonio location at Bracken Village.
It also moved the business on Google Maps rather than creating a new listing, and no longer appears at Bracken Village, where it was a cafe serving breakfast items until 2024, according to user reviews. In September, the brand's social media started promoting sales at the members-only warehouse retail chain Sam's Club.
The new store's hours as listed on Google Maps are Thursdays and Fridays from 4-8 pm, Saturdays from noon to 8 pm, and Sundays from noon to 6 pm.
