Beloved Boerne beer garden closes again as property hits market

Random Beer Beer Garden is on sale for $3.25 million.
After a series of closings and reopenings, Boerne’s Random Beer Garden is once again shuttered. The business’ 6.78-acre property at 11 Upper Cibolo Creek Rd. is now on the market for $3.25 million.
The expansive beer garden first opened in 2013, quickly becoming a must-stop destination on the way to Boerne Lake. In recent years, the operations have been, well, more random. In 2018, it ceased operations for a month to undergo renovations. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic forced a more prolonged closure.
It seemed to be gone for good until it suddenly appeared back on the scene in spring 2024, only to shutter in July of that year. In April, it reappeared again, hosting a crawfish festival in May and a Hill Country flood relief concert and cookout in August.
Since then, the business has gone dark on social media. Random has not formally announced the closure, and a request for comment was not returned by publication time.

In its heyday, Random was a rare oasis in the Hill Country suburb, offering live music and dozens of beers and ciders on tap for adults, kid-friendly features like a trampoline, and plenty of space for dogs to romp. Food trucks and a slate of community events made it more of a daytime hangout than a raucous bar.
The complex is being sold by Texas firm Restaurant Reality Group as an almost turnkey operation. The scenic site includes a recently remodeled 1940s home and several outbuildings, including a beer garden with multiple taps and a storage barn that could be used for events.
Although up for sale, Restaurant Reality says it would consider lease opportunities from “strong groups.” If history is any indication, Random’s fans shouldn’t count out the business just yet. The beer garden has only changed its Google Business profile to “temporarily closed.”
