BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
Secret members-only speakeasy sneaks into San Antonio's Shavano Park

Il Segreto comes from the founder of Quintana Rum.
A hush-hush speakeasy offering craft cocktails and tapas is tiptoeing into Shavano Park. Members-only lounge Il Segreto will open by the first week of August, but don’t expect the owners to reveal the address.
Ciro Di Costanzo, owner and founder of Quintana Rum, and Genaro Lorichio, owner of Po Po Trattoria Pizzeria, are behind the mysterious project. In an Instagram exchange, a bar rep kept details “intentionally discreet,” but did offer a few teasers on what to expect.
“Il Segreto will be an Italian luxury speakeasy, offering an intimate, exclusive experience — by invitation only,” said the rep. “It’s a concept unlike anything currently found in the city.”
The rep says the pair curated the rare spirit collection and signature cocktails to pair with a menu of “global-style tapas.” Assumably, at least a few of the drinks will include Costanzo’s rum made in the Mexican Caribbean.
The rep was coy on the exact vibe of the space, only offering that it will be a “sensory experience.” Social media posts for the lounge offer no further clues, promoting the concept with illustrations of elaborate keys, Venetian masks, and glowing doorways that could double as stills from Eyes Wide Shut.
The unnamed spokesperson did not offer details on how to join Il Segreto, but in all fairness, its name translates to “the secret.” They did share that three private memberships would be gifted to “those who understand that true luxury…is not always visible.”
