Rowdy San Antonio sports bar Home Room might be out of glitter and glue. The owners have been locked out of the 517 Live Oak St property, and the watering hole is on the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) Delinquent List for failing to pay suppliers on time.

After seeing social media murmurs about Home Room’s recent closure, CultureMap visited the East Side business to find lockout notices posted on the front door and the gate.

"We are notifying you that you are in default under the lease you entered into on January 11, 2022, with Live Oak Management, LLC for the premises at 517 Live Oak Street, San Antonio, Texas, and that the landlord has changed the locks,” the December 5 note read. “After paying all delinquent rent, you may obtain a new key during normal business hours from 517 Live Oak Management, LLC."

The forced closure comes as Home Room is listed on the December 10 update of TABC’s bimonthly Delinquent List, a roll call of “retailers who have not paid for distilled spirits, wine or malt liquor they purchased on credit by the state’s payment deadlines.”

According to the state’s Cash and Credit Law, no further sales or deliveries can be made to the bar until the debt is paid.

Marika Olmstead-Wright and Marc “Frenchy” Groleau — the owners of Pacific Moon and Charlie Brown’s Neighborhood Bar, respectively — opened Home Room in March 2023, teaming up with Austin nightlife impresario Jason Hart. The concept in a former schoolhouse started as a playful sports bar and food truck park.

In recent months, however, the bar took an entirely adult turn with an increasingly risqué social media presence. In July, Home Room made headlines after a parking lot altercation led to a shooting.

The owners have not publicly commented on the bar’s struggles, but the social media accounts have been dark since late November. Phone, email, and social media requests for more information were not returned by publication time.
