MANY HAPPY RETURNS
Shuttered San Antonio Italian hidden gem returns with pizza and pasta

After a hiatus, Focaccia Mia is back on the San Antonio scene.
After shuttering in May, San Antonio sandwich shop Focaccia Mia has reopened. The Southeast Side hidden gem has found new luster with a revised menu at its original 2622 Goliad Rd. address.
Chef and owner Miguel Cortez announced the return via social media, making good on his earlier promise that the closure wasn’t a “forever goodbye.” The restaurant will celebrate its grand reopening on July 3.
Cortez closed the near-Brooks restaurant on May 22, citing circumstances beyond his control. The move did not appear to have affected sibling restaurant La Unica Cocina Mexicana, which shares space with the Italian-influenced restaurant.
Although the menu looks slightly different, Focaccia Mia has kept its greatest hits. Chief among them are deli-style sandwiches built with house-made focaccia. The current menu lists six choices ranging from Il Campione with pesto and mortadella to Della Nonna with meatballs and Parmesan cream.
Focaccia Mia also serves Neopolitan-style pizzas like pepperoni, Hawaiian, and Margherita pies. Salads and pasta round out the menu, which crescendos with the Capricioso dessert — a focaccia slice filled with Nutella, fresh ricotta, and almonds.
Following the July 3 opening, Focaccia Mia will only be open on select days. According to the post, hours will be 5-9 pm Thursday through Saturday.
