San Antonio celeb chef Jason Dady fires up barbecue pop-up at The Rock

Lil' Bros BBQ Shack serves Two Bros BBQ and a few new dishes.
Maybe he has a clone? Less than two months after introducing his raspa stand, Ice Ice Dady, ever-busy San Antonio chef Jason Dady is back with a Lil' Bros BBQ Shack, a pitmaster pop-up on the Frost Plaza at The Rock at La Cantera, 1 Spurs Way.
The smoked meats largely draw from Dady's Two Bros BBQ menu. Visitors can expect beef brisket, chopped beef, and pulled pork, along with a couple of new items, kielbasa sausage and smoked half chicken. The shack will also have handhelds, such as smoked brisket tacos and the "Mac Dady" grilled cheese.
The celeb chef goes wild with the sides and sauces. Mac' n' cheese is spiked with green chiles, and elote-style cream corn is amped up with a crumble of Flamin' Hot Cheetos. All the dishes can be enhanced with the three barbecue sauces: Guava Lava with guava and gochujang, Golden Blaze with a Carolina Gold mustard base, and Shiner Molasses with dark beer, espresso, and molasses.
The pop-up joint marks Dady's third concept at the Rock, the $500 million mixed-use development that houses the San Antonio Spurs' training facility. The prolific chef opened Ice Ice Dady in late June and Italian restaurant Roca & Martillo in November 2023. The latter refreshed its menu earlier in September, including a new weekend brunch.
Still to come is Mexico Ceaty at downtown's Shops at Rivercenter. The project includes four restaurants: Tres Arcos, Dos Cantinas, El Ultimo, and Dulce Aroma. The elevated food court is set to debut by the end of 2025.
"We're proud to have been a part of The Rock at La Cantera family since the opening of Roca & Martillo in 2024, and with the opening of Ice Ice Dady this summer," says Dady, via a release. "The energy at Frost Plaza – with families, community events, and Spurs fans – makes it the perfect spot to bring this unique, fun, barbecue offering to the thriving community in northwest San Antonio."
Lil' Bros BBQ is now open for lunch and dinner from 11 am-8 pm, Thursday through Sunday.
