Andy's Frozen Custard scoops up new shop in San Antonio
There are many ways to get relief from the brutal summers in Texas, whether it be floating a nearby river or simply enjoying a frozen treat. For locals who are fans of the latter option, Andy's Frozen Custard has broken ground on its third location in San Antonio, continuing a citywide expansion.
The new frozen custard stand will be located at 9703 Potranco Rd., in front of John Paul Stevens High School and Dr. Winn Murnin Elementary.
Andy's boasts that its frozen custard is handmade hourly in each store. The chain is known for its thick Concretes (custard blended with assorted toppings), Jackhammers (custard blended with assorted toppings and a hot fudge center), sundaes, and splits. Each location is modeled after a classic custard stand with walk-up windows, a drive-through, and outdoor patio seating with lawn games.
The first San Antonio Andy's opened at the Rim in 2022, with the second location opening in Stone Oak in October 2023. A release said construction on the third shop broke ground in early July; The store is expected to open to the public in early 2025. All three stores are owned by San Antonian Joseph Shields.
"San Antonio continues to love Andy’s, and we’re excited to continue to open new locations across town," Shields said in the release. "Andy’s is all about family – it’s your local neighborhood scoop shop, where you can get the best treats and make new memories with family and friends on our patio and lawn."
There are 32 total Andy's locations in Texas, with additional stores in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
All Andy's locations are open seven days a week, and operating hours are from 11 am to 11:30 pm Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 am to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
