New San Antonio seafood restaurant features menu by 'Chopped' winner

Aguazul has reappeared with more info on its chef and opening timeline.
A new restaurant called Aguazul Seafood is almost ready to make its debut in San Antonio with an impressive chef. Helmed by Enrique Lozano, who won a 2024 episode of the popular cooking competition Chopped, Aguazul is scheduled to open in mid-February.
As reported by CultureMap in an August food news column, the restaurant is located at 2831 NW Loop 410. The site, surrounded by law firms and practical stores like furniture sellers The Liquidation Guys and Discount Tire, used to house a series of strip clubs, but has undergone some renovations.
It had originally been suggested that the restaurant would open closer to the summer when information was first released, but now the estimate has narrowed. What the restaurant lacks in punctuality, it makes up for in photos.

A glance at the menu shows versatility, from expertly plated seafood dishes to unfussy cheeseburgers. A press release points out healthy eating as one of the restaurant's goals, and photos certainly seem to back up the claim that this doesn't mean sacrificing flavor.
Far from the salad and bowl-focused healthy options of the 2020s, these dishes border on extravagance. And chilaquiles are absolutely still an option. The release promises a blend of "traditional coastal flavors with nutritious ingredients."

Besides this opening, Chef Lozano has been busy. The 2023 James Beard Award semifinalist's Instagram feed is bursting at the seams with pop-ups where he's serving barbecue, ramen, pizza, and more. In addition to Chopped, he also competed on Beat Bobby Flay in 2024.
