Love, at six feet
Southtown restaurant helps San Antonio singles find love from six feet away
Dating during regular times is tough. Dating during a global pandemic is truly abysmal. Lucky for single San Antonians, a Southtown restaurant is making it a little easier.
The Good Kind, the St. Mary's Strip hot spot from chef Tim "The Girl" McDiarmid, is hosting its second socially distant speed dating event to give hopeful singles "the chance to find love six feet in front of them."
Dating at a Social Distance will take over the restaurant's outdoor garden lounge on Saturday, June 27, from 7-10 pm. Tickets, priced $10, are capped at 30 men and 30 women. Within each gender, 15 will be dedicated to the ages 21-40 category and 15 to 40-plus category.
This version of Dating... is for those who identify as straight, but a rep says they are working on organizational details for a potential queer version.
Along with potentially finding love, The Good Kind is offering its full bar and kitchen menu. That way, the restaurant notes in a release, "if you don’t happen to find love, you’ll at least find delicious food and drinks."
The restaurant will keep the spark alive with an after party for the newly matched (or unmatched) until midnight.
In keeping with social distancing precautions, The Good Kind says it is "adhering to all regulations and procedures to ensure the safety and well being of both guests and staff," including occupancy and sanitary procedures.
