Leave it to one of the city's most popular restaurants to give San Antonians what they really want: frozen margarita delivery. Beginning Thursday, May 28, La Gloria is rolling out Margarita Trucks, a food truck/delivery service that brings the restaurant's famed cocktails and a handful of menu items directly to your door.

Available now for delivery are drink packages and single cocktails, including La Gloria's house and frozen margaritas in original, prickly pear, strawberry, blue, mango; Jack and Coke; and La Fruteria's cucumber vodkarita. Customers can also throw in a bag of ice for $3 and premium liquor upgrades for an additional charge.

La Gloria is also offering its bistec, al pastor, and pollo al carbon taco kits (all $14.98), which include fixings for 12 tacos, along with sides like Mexican street corns and chips and salsa or queso.

Delivery is available with a minimum $40 purchase, and alcohol must be ordered along with food, per Texas regulations.

For Johnny Hernandez, chef and founder Grupo La Gloria and True Flavors Inc., the trucks are a logical pathway to increase revenue while also serving locals who might not feel comfortable patronizing a restaurant yet.

"Our Margarita Trucks are another fun and creative way to adapt to the ever-changing business landscape,” Hernandez said via release. “Today, safety is top of mind for everyone, and many of our customers are simply not ready to dine out; however, we know that doesn’t mean they don’t crave one of our famous margaritas. Delivering to our customers’ homes does not only make enjoying our signature margaritas safer and more convenient, but this new avenue of serving our customers also helps to rebuild our business, in turn allowing us to hire back more members of our team.”

As the tasty new service rolls out (forgive us), delivery will be limited to a 3-mile radius around downtown's Crockett Park, but La Gloria says as it adds additional trucks, it will expand delivery to Dominion, Stone Oak, Alamo Heights, and neighborhoods beyond.

To schedule delivery, go to the La Gloria website and click on "order online," and make sure to select delivery at checkout. Online orders must be paid with a debit or credit card. No cash and no walk-ups will be accepted.
