MAC ATTACK
Beloved San Antonio bakery hits the sweet spot with nationwide macaron delivery
The rest of the country is likely saying merci to an adored San Antonio bakery that’s known for its superb Parisian macarons.
Bakery Lorraine, baking phenom Anne Ng’s local confection shop and Viennoiserie that has tempted many a sweet tooth in Central Texas, has gone national, now offering shipping of its signature macarons to all 50 U.S. states.
The gorgeous, melt-in-the-mouth macarons are arranged in Bakery Lorraine’s decorated gift boxes and are available in six- and 12-macaron collections (starting at $14) with tempting flavors like Earl Grey and pistachio.
And since Bakery Lorraine guarantees the delicate little treasures will arrive as fresh as if they were just plucked out of the pastry case, they’d make for a pretty perfect Mother’s Day gift, even if Mom is 1,000 miles away.
First opened in San Antonio in 2011, Bakery Lorraine has since expanded to four locations in Alamo City and one in Austin, with the popularity of its Parisian macarons spearheading that growth, though the bakery’s substantial menu of sandwiches, breakfasts, dinner entrees, and other pastries is just as impressive.
The local darling is far from a secret these days, having gained national recognition for its macarons and pastries. Food & Wine named it one of the best bakeries in the country, and Condé Nast Traveler spotlighted Bakery Lorraine on its list of 13 destination bakeries.
Bakery Lorraine’s macarons are among other Central Texas-founded sweets now available nationally. That includes new Austin-based sensation Cookie Rich, which announced this month its treats are now available nationwide through a partnership with the Goldbelly food platform.
